BeMC non-stop

For most people, finishing the Belgian Mountainbike Challenge powered by Specialized is already quite an achievement and something they can be truly proud of. Spread over three days, 262 km and over 8.000 meters of climbing need to be tackled.

For ultra-cyclist Stefan Maertens this is not enough a challenge. On Thursday 11 May, one day before the start of the stage race, Stefan will ride the entire course of the BeMC 2017 in one go.

Early birds are welcome to cheer him on as he will leave for his adventure in front of hotel Floreal in la Roche at 6 a.m. During the day he will pass by the finishline three times before arriving around 9 p.m.

You can follow his achievement live through our website and also on the Facebook-page of BeMC. We will post regular updates, photos and videos.

We wish Stefan all the luck and hope you will all join us in cheering him on or seeing him finish.

Stefan will use a Lauf fork and ceramic C-Bear bearings during his ride. Thanks to his Stages Cycling powermeter he will be able to better dose his efforts and everybody will be able to get a better idea of the efforts he made when we will share some of his power outputs.

Last but not least, we will combine this, already legendary ride with a a fun competition. The one who can best guess Stefan’s final time will win a free ticket for BeMC 2018 and can come to see for himself how hard it is to ride this course, even spread over three days. Leave a comment on our Facebook or website.

Tip: in 2015 Stefan participated in the BeMC and it took him 14h58min21sec to finish the three stages.
